Double Tube
Double tube 2-pin CFLs are one of the most popular plug-in compact fluorescent formats, used extensively in commercial downlights, recessed cans, and wall-mounted fixtures with magnetic ballasts. These lamps feature two parallel tubes joined at the base with a G24d 2-pin connector.
Brand Naming Conventions
This lamp type is sold under different product line names depending on the manufacturer:
- Philips (Signify): PL-C — the "C" stands for the compact double-tube configuration
- GE: Biax D — the "D" designates double tube
- Sylvania (Ledvance): Dulux D — also using "D" for double tube
Despite the different product names, these lamps are fully cross-compatible when the base type, wattage, and color temperature match.
G24d Base Variants
The G24d base comes in three wattage-specific variants — always match the exact base to your fixture:
- G24d-1: 10W and 13W lamps
- G24d-2: 18W lamps
- G24d-3: 26W lamps
The keying on each base variant is physically different to prevent installing the wrong wattage lamp, which protects the magnetic ballast from damage. Available in color temperatures from 2700K (warm white) through 6500K (daylight).
