Blacklight fluorescent lamps emit long-wave ultraviolet (UV-A) radiation and are available in two types: BL (blacklight) with white glass for functional applications, and BLB (blacklight blue) with dark purple glass for visual-effect applications.
BL lamps emit UV-A along with some visible light and are used primarily in insect traps, bug zappers, and industrial inspection. BLB lamps filter out most visible light, producing the deep purple glow used for glow parties, club lighting, art installations, and forensic detection. Available in various T8 and T5 linear formats.
